Bridesmaids: Funniest film in ages…

19 May

Last night I saw the movie ‘Bridesmaids’ and I’ve been meaning to say all day – GO SEE IT. It’s hilarious. Paul and I laughed all the way through it! Proper laughing too,… like the kind of laughing you LOVE to take over you in the cinema because everyone else is doing it too and it makes seeing a movie in a crowded room totally interactive and fun… like, AAAAH, aren’t other people lovely. (ahem)

I love when the Saturday Night Live clan get up on the big screen and I have to say, I think Kristen Wiig makes one of the most hilarious leading ladies I’ve seen in a long time. I think there’s something in this movie that would make any girl go: “Oh, that is SO me!” You know when you do that? Stupid really, but from the opening scene when she’s trying to escape a guy’s house in a cringeworthy walk of shame (which gets worse) right through to when she’s running away from the only one who truly makes her happy and doesn’t even know why she’s doing it… yup. every girl’s been there. And there are pooh jokes too, of course.

The best thing of all though… the appearance by Wilson Phillips. I used to LOVE this song. In fact, I remember reviving it when I worked at lastminute.com in London not too many years ago. I re-discovered this very video on YouTube and pissed everyone off for a week, playing it on loop. It’s an awesome song though, haha!! It SPEAKS TO ME!! (oh feck off, it does). Go see Bridesmaids, ya’ll. You won’t regret it.

I know this pain
Why do lock yourself up in these chains?
No one can change your life except for you
Don’t ever let anyone step all over you
Just open your heart and your mind
Is it really fair to feel this way inside?

Some day somebody’s gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you gonna let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don’t you know?
Don’t you know things can change
Things’ll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on for one more day
Things’ll go your way
Hold on for one more day
